Our Imam cares about the community and spreading the message and teachings of Islam: peace and following the guidance of Allah Almighty, the All Hearing, the All Knowing, Glory be to Him. As Muslims, we believe, there is no God worthy of worship except Allah and Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is His slave and Messenger.
Community members said they wanted their children to attend Arabic School and learn how to read Quran, speak Arabic, recite surahs and learn about Islam and how to be good Muslims. Abu Ilyas established a weekend madressah in Charlton and Dartford.
The community need reaches beyond madressah and a space is needed to provide a safe and nurturing environment for brothers, sisters, aunties, uncles and the youth to come together to learn about Islam, discuss important community matters and engage in activities to improve their spiritual, emotional, psychological and physical health, for example: sister’s circles, brother’s classes, mother and child groups, fathers groups, youth clubs, scouts, fitness classes and so much more. The centre would support families, women and children, including families home schooling who would like to meet up in their local community and establish support networks from within the Islamic faith.
The centre would reach out to asylum seekers and refugees who are often marginalised and excluded from mainstream society perhaps as they lack understanding of how to access these services.
Our Imam, Abu Ilyas has dedicated his life to dawah (the call to the beautiful religion of Allah, Islam). Originally from Jordan, now living in London he is a passionate scholar of the deen and proactive caller to truth, “Allah is the Truth, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Truth, Islam is the Truth. Keen to enable people to live their faith in a dynamic global community, Imam Abu Ilyas is particularly interested in enabling youngsters to live their faith whilst engaging with and working in society, being active contributors to the economy and at the same time maintaining their Islam.
Imam Abu Ilyas is also a chaplain, providing spiritual counsel on family matters, he is specialist in Islamic jurisprudence and is qualified to give Islamic Ruling (fatwa).
Money raised will go towards providing services for the community.
Once a space is found these services will have a home and can be expanded.
Our community is made up of individuals from all walks of life, united by our faith. We welcome everyone with open arms, regardless of background.
